Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon.
Pure brunch heaven.
If it’s on any menu chances are I am picking that. So no surprise that brunch places are a particular favourite of mine.
Now Shoreditch is one of London’s popular trendy hot spots. There won’t be too many places that are not well known and packed to the rafters every time you visit. But no one could have been everywhere right?
A new place
Arranging to meet a friend in Shoreditch I wanted to go to a brunch place that I had never been to before. After assessing a few choices before hand I decided to try Cream, a brunch cafe in New Inn Yard. Being off the main road has given Cream the opportunity of offering peace and quiet in a popular area. These are the kind of places I love most. Being able to easily speak with your friends over food is an experience to enjoy.
“Located in Shoreditch, CREAM is a daytime canteen, serving an ever-changing menu of ingredient-led cuisine and fine coffee.” Cream.
Thankfully when we arrived it was quiet, even for a Saturday. We were kindly seated and offered to chance to see the food menu. What is available is not quantity but quality. As you will have guessed I choose scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and my friend went for s.eggs with prosciutto.
We waited a while for the food, which gave us a chance to talk and enjoy tea and coffee. When the food came it was an epic plate. The salmon were thick cuts, which is different to the conventional thin slices. The eggs were served on a large slice of toast with the egg portion being on the very generous side. You will definitely be getting value and quality.

Cream is not a large place. Everything is within one area where the kitchen is in full view and cakes on display at the counter. I believe having a good balance between seats and space creates a calming atmosphere. With all the other seats filled I didn’t feel at any stage that the place was busy, even though it was. There is seating outside and the window panelling at the front can be opened up during the hotter parts of the year.
“CREAM does not take bookings, but the wait is rarely long if at all. Come on down!”. Cream.
I recommend trying Cream if you are into Brunch and seeking a quieter place for food or personal work.
