Cocktail Journal May 2017
Towers, butterflies and did someone say new flat?
Here are a few others things I have been up to during May. This month’s cocktail recipe is my favourite so I hope you enjoy.
Best news ever
So May has been a good month, to put it mildly. It’s actually been one of the best months ever! This is for one reason. I’ve have been offered a flat to purchase. Oh my days, what the hell. I couldn’t believe it when I read the email from the housing association, “I write to inform you that we are able to allocate the above property to you”. After reading many emails saying the property has not been allocated to me, seeing this good news was a complete surprise.
I’m trying to keep my feet on the ground about it all until I get the keys in my hand but it is the news that I needed to hear. I am purchasing the property through shared ownership, which is how it is affordable for me. After years of saving, improving my credit rating and viewing properties over the past year, it feels like the just reward for doing all the right things.
National History Museum visit
At the beginning of May, I paid a visit to the Natural History Museum. Much has changed in terms of how you access the museum due to renovation in the entrance hall. Going on a Saturday meant it was crazy busy so what I focused on seeing was two of the temporary exhibitions, Wildlife Photographer of the Year and Sensational Butterflies. Both were inspirational and so worth paying for. A post about this will be on the blog very soon.
At the end of the month, I embarked on a two-night trip solo trip to Bruges. I fell in love with its impressive towers, winding canals and cobbled streets. Only three hours via Eurostar and connecting Belgium train, which is relatively quick when you consider it takes the same amount of time to travel to Scotland by train. I walked up the Belfort Tower in Markt Square, allowing me to take the most incredible photos of Bruges.
This month’s cocktail – Sea Breeze
As I mentioned above this is my favourite cocktail. Why? Because it was the first cocktail I tried and thought, yes this is the perfect blend. The basis of the recipe is cranberry juice and vodka, however the first time I tried it grapefruit juice was also in the recipe so this is what I am using too.
- Cranberry juice
- Grapefruit juice
